I reported recently for Le Journal des Arts that conceptual artist Jenny Holzer is completing an installation commissioned by the Louvre Abu Dhabi, according to her gallery Cheim & Read.
The Abu Dhabi museum is scheduled to open in December 2015. The Paris Louvre is currently hosting an exhibition called “Birth of a Museum” (up through July 28) which presents 150 artworks from the new museum’s developing collection. During Abu Dhabi Art in November 2013, Holzer participated in a round table with Pompidou Center president Alain Seban, gallerist Thaddaeus Ropac, and Louvre Abu Dhabi architect Jean Nouvel.
Holzer was the first woman chosen to represent the U.S at the Venice Biennale in 1990, when she won the Golden Lion. She is known for her LED projections of mysterious and poetic texts.
