About Kate

Kate Deimling is a poet and translator. Her poems have appeared in Kestrel, Passager, Presence, Sheila-Na-Gig, SLANT, Southern Poetry Review, Tar River Poetry, and elsewhere, and she is co-editor of Bracken magazine. She holds a PhD in French literature from Columbia University and has translated several books from French on topics ranging from the wine industry to Renaissance portraiture. Her debut poetry collection, Time Traveling, is forthcoming from Cornerstone Press in 2026. A native New Orleanian and longtime Brooklynite, Kate enjoys seeing nature in the city and spending time with her dog.

Kate has been invited to speak on the craft of translation by institutions including Montclair State University, the National Center for Interpretation at the University of Arizona, Salem State University, the Middlebury Institute for International Studies at Monterey, and Duke University.

Kate’s poetry translations have appeared in Atlanta Review and World Poetry Review, and her work is forthcoming in Best Literary Translations 2026.
